Wakabi Derrick

Wakabi Derrick serves as the Managing Director of Women Integrated Empowerment Development (WIED), where he provides visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization’s mission of empowering rural women and youth. With a strong passion for community transformation, Derrick oversees WIED’s programs in skills development, handcraft production, and sustainable livelihood projects that create dignified employment opportunities.

Under his leadership, WIED has expanded from a small women’s initiative to a vibrant community-based NGO with over 300 members, including widows, single mothers, caregivers, and orphaned youth. He has played a pivotal role in establishing partnerships, mobilizing resources, and guiding the organization’s growth, including the successful establishment of a cow horn factory in Jinja that has diversified income streams for many families.

Derrick is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and innovation while ensuring that WIED remains a voice for vulnerable groups. His work continues to inspire hope, foster self-reliance, and drive socio-economic development within the community.
